Testimonials

"I had to cancel my regular spring appointment due to sickness, but kept forgetting to call and reschedule. Then I received a reminder via email. Once I responded to the email, giving details of when I would be available, I received a call the very next morning before 8:00 am offering an appointment that day. Upon arriving, I was called back for x-rays, then went to the hygienist who was waiting for me. The dentist and his staff all worked together to help me identify discomfort on my lower left. Dr. Graham made an adjustment to my bite on that side and it feels much better. My husband, my son, and I are all patients there; I would not think of going anywhere else!!!"

General Dentistry Services

General Dentistry Services

We enjoy the opportunity to provide general dentistry services to our patients. Whether it is routine dental cleanings, deep periodontal cleanings, or more involved procedures, Dr. Gunter and Dr. Graham offer all the services a family needs to maintain great oral hygiene and health.

Teeth Cleaning

Routine dental cleanings are performed by our experienced dental hygienists and these appointments typically begin with taking digital X-rays of your teeth to check for cavities, cracks or other dental problems that aren't easily seen by the naked eye.

Next, the hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth, which keeps your teeth and gums healthy. The process is topped off with a professional polishing and flossing.

Periodontal Disease Treatment

It is estimated that about 80% of Americans suffer from some form of periodontal- or gum- disease. Periodontal disease attacks the gum and bone that supports the teeth and if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss.

We approach periodontal treatment in a variety of ways, depending upon the type and severity of the disease. If the disease is caught in its early stages and there is no permanent damage, undergoing a couple of routine dental cleanings followed by better at-home care may suffice.

If the disease has reached an advanced stage, a deep cleaning known as scaling and root planing is necessary. More extensive periodontal treatment may be needed in some cases when scaling and root planing aren't effective in reducing pocket depths.

In cases of periodontal disease where scaling and root planing are not completely successful in eliminating the infection, periodontal surgery can be performed. This procedure involves eliminating bacteria along the entire tooth and exposed root. In addition, we use a special dental laser to disinfect the tooth and surrounding tissue.

Fillings

Your Smile Is Our RewardTeeth damaged by decay often require a filling to restore the strength and health of the tooth once the decay has been removed.

We use tooth-colored composite fillings in our office, which provide a natural alternative to traditional amalgam fillings. With tooth-colored fillings, people will notice only your smile, not your filling.

Root Canals

Modern anesthetics have made root canals much more comfortable than their reputation would lead you to believe. Today, a root canal usually can be performed pain-free. A root canal often is needed if the nerve inside a tooth has been damaged by decay or injury. Root canals are performed in one or more appointments, depending on the circumstances.

Tooth Extractions

We view tooth removal as a last option, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. While an extraction can be an emotionally traumatic event, our staff will take good care of you and make you comfortable during the procedure.

Dentures

Dentures are a removable prosthesis that replaces missing teeth. A denture can either be a full denture, which replaces all of the teeth in a dental arch, or a partial denture, which can be used with existing teeth to replace missing teeth. It is often beneficial to combine two or more dental implants with a denture when replacing all of your teeth. This option gives the denture much more stability and allows you to eat, speak and smile with confidence, instead of worrying whether your denture may move or fall out unexpectedly. In addition, multiple implants can be used to provide a denture that is fixed in place and is not removed at night.

Teeth Grinding and TMJ Pain

Dental Care For All AgesMany patients have very destructive teeth grinding habits that can wear away the biting surfaces of their teeth. This habit is called bruxism. Bruxism also can cause significant pain in the patient's temperomandibular joint (TMJ) and jaw.

In addition, TMJ disorders can be manifested by clicking or popping joints, pain when the jaw is opened fully, limited range of opening, facial pain and muscle fatigue, ear pain or ringing in the ears, and frequent headaches.

We offer a number of different treatments that can help alleviate or eliminate the problem and symptoms. A night guard typically is the first treatment that is offered, which can help to minimize the damage caused by tooth grinding.

If the problem is caused by the way the teeth come together, your teeth may require some restoration to improve the alignment of your bite and joints. This may include the addition of crowns or a "recontouring" of tooth surfaces to improve the bite, or occlusion.

If you suffer pain or discomfort that you believe may be related to your temperomandubular joints, please ask us for help. The successful treatment of many TMJ disorder sufferers begins with gentle, experienced care – right here in the dental office.

Snoring Guards

If you have a snoring habit (or more importantly, a partner who snores), we also offer night guards that can significantly reduce snoring.

Smoking Cessation

If you are trying to quit smoking, we can help. We can discuss with you the different options available to help you quit, including prescription medication that can make breaking the habit a little easier.
